Minimum Intervention: Everland Forest Camp
The Everland Forest Camp Dome (hereafter “Camp Dome”) is a transparent structure set within a beautiful natural landscape. Regardless of the season, visitors can experience nature and enjoy a variety of indoor activities within a space where the transparent boundary allows architecture and landscape to blend together. Composed of a simple combination of a sphere and a cylinder, the structure forms a single multipurpose space measuring 13.5 meters in diameter and 9.4 meters in height.
Within the lush yet carefully cultivated landscape of Everland Forest, the Camp Dome aims for minimal architectural intervention. To create a safe yet distinct presence without disturbing the natural environment, we adopted a primordial geometric form. The sphere, which forms the basis of the dome, is one of the most fundamental forms found in the universe—from planets and water droplets to the molecular structure of Fullerene (C60). In three-dimensional space, it is a form capable of enclosing the maximum volume with the minimum amount of material.
